Sarah McCann, Director of Communications

Sarah McCann joined GAMA in February 2017 as Director of Communications. She oversees all public communications for GAMA, including its digital media, and manages the association’s general aviation jobs rallies, the GAMA Aviation Design Challenge, and scholarships. She is also the staff liaison to the Communications Committee.

McCann comes to GAMA from the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA), where she started as communications and public affairs specialist in 2011 and was promoted to senior communications and public affairs associate in 2014. In this role, she led the association’s membership communications and public affairs, including development and implementation of campaigns announcing the association’s position on key issues like air traffic controller staffing. She also transformed the association’s presence on social media. Prior to working at NATCA, McCann served as a legislative assistant at Alcalde & Fay, a government and public affairs consulting firm where she worked on a variety of issues, including transportation, infrastructure, healthcare, and education.

A native of Upstate New York, McCann holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Journalism and Media Studies and a minor in Political Science from Rutgers University, New Brunswick. She is also a proud alumni of the Scarlet Knights field hockey team.
