FAA Order 8120.24 Implementation Plan Approval, Verification, and Evaluation of Safety Management Systems for Design and Production Approval Holders

This order provides guidance and assigns responsibility for aircraft certification service (AIR)
personnel to review and approve a safety management system (SMS) implementation plan,
complete a verification of SMS development, and complete an evaluation of SMS operation for a
design and production approval holder that is required to comply with Title 14, Code of Federal
Regulations (14 CFR) part 5. Guidance is also provided for AIR personnel to review and accept
an implementation plan, complete a verification of SMS development, complete an evaluation of
SMS operation, and accept an SMS for design and production approval holders that are not
required to comply with part 5 but choose to voluntarily develop and implement a SMS.

FAA AC_00-56B_CHG_1 Voluntary Industry Distributor Accreditation Program

This AC describes a system for accrediting civil aircraft parts distributors based on voluntary industry oversight. The AC also provides information for developing accreditation programs. We, the Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA), strongly endorse participation in such a program to help certificated persons establish the eligibility of parts and products for installation on U.S. type-certificated products. We have revised this AC to meet current changes in regulatory requirements and industry practices since original publication.

FAA AC 21-58 SMS Safety Management Systems for Part 21 Type and Production Certificate Holders

This AC provides information to assist certain certificate holders under 14 CFR part 21 in developing, implementing, and maintaining a safety management system (SMS) to meet the regulatory requirements of
14 CFR part 5. This AC is not mandatory and does not constitute a regulation. This AC describes an acceptable means, but not the only means, to develop, implement, and maintain an SMS.

FAA_Order_1100.161B Air Traffic Safety Oversight

This Order establishes roles, responsibilities, and processes for the Air Traffic Safety Oversight
Service (AOV), the Air Traffic Organization (ATO), and other Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA) organizations directly involved in the provision or safety oversight of air navigation
services. This Order also establishes the processes that must be used within the FAA to conduct
safety oversight of air navigation service providers consistent with the International Civil
Aviation Organization’s standards. To maintain the highest levels of safety, FAA organizations
use risk-based, data driven decision making. This Order documents the specific delegation of
authority to the Associate Administrator for Aviation Safety (AVS-1), and further redelegation to
the Executive Director of the Air Traffic Safety Oversight Service (AOV-1), for safety oversight
of ATO and enforcing safety regulations related to air navigation services. AOV-1 will have dual
direct reporting to the FAA Administrator and AVS-1.

FAA Order_JO_7360.1J Aircraft Type Designators

This order provides standard abbreviations (aircraft type designators) for the most common aircraft that utilize air traffic services (ATS). FAA Order JO 7110.65, Air Traffic Control, and FAA Order JO 7110.10, Flight Services, specify the use of aircraft type designators contained in this order; however, these type designators may also support other Air Traffic Organization (ATO) policy or guidance
