Last week, Archer reached an important milestone in its path to commercializing electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft with the successful piloted flight of its Midnight aircraft. This latest flight demonstrated Midnight’s ability to operate using conventional takeoff and landing methods, reaching speeds up to 125 miles per hour and flying at altitudes over 1,500 feet. Midnight features a unique 12-tilt-6 design that supports both vertical and conventional flight, giving it the flexibility to adapt to a wide range of operational needs. This dual capability is seen as a major advantage by Archer, regulatory bodies, and both civil and defense sector partners. It allows the aircraft to meet diverse requirements while also enhancing safety during flight. The data collected from these piloted flights will be used to support Archer’s ongoing aircraft certification efforts. With this milestone behind them, the company remains on track to launch commercial operations in 2025, bringing a new era of air mobility one step closer to reality. ... See MoreSee Less
