Honda Aircraft Company announced that it has completed FAA certification flight testing for the Emergency Autoland system on the HondaJet Elite II, marking a key step toward full certification. The system, developed in partnership with Garmin, allows the aircraft to automatically communicate with air traffic control and land safely if the pilot becomes incapacitated, positioning the Elite II to become the first twin-engine very light jet with this capability. Last week, Textron Aviation unveiled the Cessna Citation Ascend during its first public showing at the NBAA event in Las Vegas, as the jet nears final certification. The aircraft made a demonstration flight from Wichita to Henderson Executive Airport using sustainable aviation fuel, reinforcing the company’s push toward sustainable business aviation. According to Textron leadership, the Ascend has already logged about 1,000 test-flight hours and is “this close” to type certification, with only a few documents remaining.
