Santa Cruz-based Joby Aviation successfully completed piloted demonstration flights over the San Francisco Bay Area, including routes across the bay and around the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin Headlands. The flights were part of the company’s broader effort to showcase its all-electric air taxi in real-world conditions as it prepares for commercial service. The demonstrations highlighted the aircraft’s ability to operate quietly, carry a pilot and passengers, and perform regional trips that would otherwise take much longer by car.Joby says the flights are the start of its planned “Electric Skies Tour,” intended to introduce the technology to cities across the United States ahead of a targeted 2026 launch.
