Electric Aircraft maker Bye Aerospace is making steady progress on its all-electric eFlyer 2, a two-seat training aircraft in development since 2021. At EAA AirVenture, CEO Rod Zastrow confirmed the company’s focus is now squarely on the eFlyer 2 and its four-seat sibling, the eFlyer 4, while plans for the larger eFlyer 800 have been paused. A mockup of the eFlyer 2 was on display in Oshkosh, and a production-conforming prototype is expected to fly within the next year, with FAA certification targeted about two years later.The company holds over $700 million in orders and has begun fabricating structural components using in-house production tools. Zastrow says the team is working with strategic partners to streamline manufacturing and prepare for full-rate production, which could eventually employ up to 2,000 people.
