Pilatus has secured both EASA and FAA certification for Safety Autoland on the new PC-12 PRO, making the Garmin G3000 PRIME-based system available as part of the aircraft’s redesigned flight deck. Designed primarily for cases of pilot incapacitation, Safety Autoland can be activated manually or automatically after detecting pilot inactivity. It then takes control of the aircraft, evaluates weather, fuel, runway length, wind, and terrain, selects a suitable airport, calculates a safe route, and manages the entire landing sequence, including flaps, landing gear, lighting, deicing, and radio communications. Final certification testing demonstrated the system from activation through an automated landing and engine shutdown. Pilatus Aircraft Ltd says the PC-12 PRO combines this capability with the latest Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6 engine, while also producing lower CO₂ emissions than comparable twin-engine turboprops and retaining the ability to operate on sustainable aviation fuel blends. ...
