Aviation Week reports that Archer Aviation has begun piloted flight testing of its Midnight electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, marking a major step toward commercial air-taxi operations. The new phase follows hundreds of earlier test flights conducted autonomously or remotely and is intended to validate the aircraft’s performance with a human pilot onboard. The piloted tests are expected to progress toward transition flights (switching between vertical and forward flight) and support upcoming commercial demonstration flights planned for later in the year.
