GAMA Welcomes Peters Confirmation as DOT Secretary

WASHINGTON, DC, October 2, 2006 – The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) is pleased by the Senate’s swift confirmation of Mary Peters as the new secretary for the Department of Transportation (DOT).

“Ms. Peters brings to the DOT a tremendous background in transportation issues and we look forward to working with her to promote general aviation safety and enhance our industry’s ability to grow the U.S. economy," said Pete Bunce, GAMA’s President and CEO. “There is important work to be done in the coming months and years and we are confident that the White House has chosen the right person to lead our nation’s transportation system.”

Peters, a former federal highway administrator, also served three years as director of the Arizona Department of Transportation. Most recently, she served as the national director for transportation policy and consulting at HDR, Inc., an architectural and engineering firm.
