GAMA NEWS 17-12 For Immediate Release: Mar 22, 2017

Washington, DC – The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) is pleased to announce that Sarah McCann has joined the association as Director of Communications.

McCann comes to GAMA from the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA), where she started as communications and public affairs specialist in 2011 and was promoted to senior communications and public affairs associate in 2014. In this role, she led the association’s membership communications and public affairs, including development and implementation of campaigns announcing the association’s position on key issues like air traffic controller staffing. She also transformed the association’s presence on social media. Prior to working at NATCA, McCann served as a legislative assistant at Alcalde & Fay, a government and public affairs consulting firm where she worked on a variety of issues, including transportation, infrastructure, healthcare, and education.

“Sarah’s extensive knowledge of aviation issues, her strong rapport with reporters covering the aviation field, and her expertise in social media will be tremendously helpful as GAMA enhances its robust media presence around the world,” GAMA President and CEO Pete Bunce said. “Sarah’s impressive track record in developing strategic communications plans makes her an immediate asset to the GAMA team.”

A native of Upstate New York, McCann holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Journalism and Media Studies and a minor in Political Science from Rutgers University, New Brunswick. She is also a proud alumni of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights Field Hockey team.
