FlightSafety International is expanding its presence in Arizona with a new 100,000-square-foot Mesa Learning Center, set to break ground in October 2025 and open by early 2028. Building on its long-standing Tucson operations, the facility will provide advanced training for pilots, maintenance technicians, and cabin crews through world-class simulators and tools while creating around 100 new jobs and stimulating the local economy by driving demand for hotels, restaurants, and services. Positioned near Mesa Gateway Airport, the center reinforces Mesa’s reputation as an aviation innovation leader and supports Arizona’s broader aerospace ecosystem, which already thrives in manufacturing, engineering, and services. Beyond its economic benefits, the expansion underscores FlightSafety International's commitment to advancing aviation safety and preparedness, ensuring it remains at the forefront of global training excellence as industry demand continues to rise. ... Andrew Duggleby, co-founder and CTO of Venus Aerospace, discusses their groundbreaking Venus Detonation Ramjet (VDR2) in an in-depth article on Next Big Future. The VDR2 is a propulsion system that merges a rotating detonation rocket engine with a ramjet to achieve hypersonic flight from conventional runways. The design uses hydrogen peroxide mixed with fuel to drive a continuous supersonic detonation wave, producing higher thrust and up to 30 percent greater fuel efficiency than traditional combustion engines. Ground and flight tests have demonstrated that the system can sustain operations, transition smoothly from takeoff thrust to hypersonic cruise, and manage extreme heat through regenerative cooling and advanced alloys. The result is a single-engine solution capable of powering both defense applications, such as hypersonic weapons, and commercial concepts like transoceanic passenger aircraft that could cross oceans in one to two hours at altitudes above 170,000 feet.Read more at: www.nextbigfuture.com/2025/08/204933.html ...
