The General Aviation Manufacturers Association and its 56 member companies owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta for his strong and continued support of general aviation, and wish him great success in his future endeavors as he ends his highly successful tenure as our nation’s Secretary of Transportation.

Throughout his long and distinguished career of service as Mayor of San Jose, a Member of Congress and finally as Secretary of Transportation, Norman Mineta has shown his love for, and understanding of all modes of transportation and in particular, the unique role the aviation industry plays in a highly mobile U.S. society. Secretary Mineta has consistently acknowledged the powerful contribution general aviation makes to our nation’s economy and dedicated his efforts toward insuring its continued vitality. All of aviation, especially the general aviation manufacturing industry, has benefited from his constant emphasis on improving the safety and reliability of our national transportation system. The General Aviation Revitalization Act stands as a shining example of how Norm Mineta significantly contributed to help a critical industry recover. Secretary Mineta personifies the integrity, hard work, bi-partisanship and absolute commitment to fairness that are the hallmarks of a true statesman. We wish him well in the future.
