Washington, DC—General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) President and CEO Pete Bunce made the following statement after the FAA announced that it is streamlining the aircraft certification process by replacing the current project sequencing procedure with a new approach that better prioritizes all U.S. aircraft certification projects:
“We are very pleased that the FAA is improving the certification process by offering manufacturers much needed predictability to bring new products and technologies to their customers. GAMA has been working with the FAA to forge a better approach to manage limited certification resources since the sequencing process took effect in 2005.
“We look forward to working with the agency to ensure that the implementation of this new prioritization process meets its intended objectives to streamline the certification process and improve predictability. Additionally, GAMA will continue our efforts with the FAA to optimize the use of delegation programs such as Organization Designation Authorization to further the efficiency and effectiveness of the certification process.”
