GAMA Looks Forward to Working with Transportation Secretary Buttigieg

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the U.S. Senate confirmed the nomination of Pete Buttigieg as the next U.S. Secretary of the Department of Transportation. General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) President and CEO, Pete Bunce, released the following statement regarding the confirmation of Secretary Buttigieg:

“GAMA congratulates Secretary Buttigieg on his confirmation and looks forward to working with him on the critical issues facing general aviation. We were pleased to see that during his confirmation hearing, Secretary Buttigieg indicated that it was of both economic and strategic importance to make aviation manufacturing and its skilled workforce a priority. We are prepared to work with the Secretary and his team on our continued commitment to advancing the industry’s work on environmental sustainability, which includes increasing the adoption and availability of sustainable aviation fuels and fostering critical research and infrastructure investments. Additionally, we look forward to showcasing for Secretary Buttigieg the industry’s emerging advanced air mobility sector, which will transform aviation and facilitate transportation alternatives through innovative technologies.

“As our industry continues to navigate through the pandemic, it will be important that our government leaders, including Secretary Buttigieg, understand the challenges the industry faces, the resilience of our workforce and that their work and leadership is critical to the future of the industry .”
