GAMA Statement On Administration’s Move To Resolve Contract With Controllers

GAMA NEWS 09-13 For Immediate Release: May 3, 2009

GAMA President Pete Bunce made the following statement regarding the appointment of former FAA Administrator Jane Garvey to oversee a team of mediators who will be responsible for helping to negotiate the contract with the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA):

"I applaud Secretary LaHood’s decision to appoint Jane Garvey to oversee mediation between the FAA and NATCA.  Jane has proven time and again her abilities to bring diverse views together and find a fair, balanced consensus.  It is critical that we resolve this issue and focus our collective attention on modernizing the air traffic control system.  We look forward to partnering with the government, NATCA, and all other industry stakeholders to advance the deployment of NextGen and transform our air traffic control system to meet future demands."
