GAMA Welcomes Seven New Memberships

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, GAMA announced the additions of Leonardo Helicopters, Safran Helicopter Engines and Shadin Avionics as Members; Amazon Prime Air and ZeroAvia as Associate Members; and Heart Aerospace and Jaunt Air Mobility as Associate Members EPIC.

Leonardo Helicopters is headquartered in Cascina Costa, Italy, and has engineering and industrial operations in the United Kingdom, Poland and the United States.  With over 100 years of experience in aviation through the progressive mergers of the Agusta (1923) and Westland (1916) corporations, Leonardo Helicopters now researches, designs, develops and produces helicopters for military, EMS, search and rescue, firefighting, homeland security, energy and offshore, corporate transportation, and training missions.

Safran Helicopter Engines, a Safran group company, is the world’s leading manufacturer of helicopter engines. It offers the widest range of helicopter turboshafts in the world. Safran is an international high-technology group, operating in the aviation (propulsion, equipment and interiors), defense and space markets. Its core purpose is to contribute to a safer, more sustainable world, where air transport is more environmentally friendly, comfortable and accessible. Safran has a global presence, with 76,000 employees and sales of 16.5 billion euros in 2020 and holds, alone or in partnership, world or regional leadership positions in its core markets.

Shadin Avionics is headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and was founded in 1978. They develop and manufacture flight certified aircraft electronics including fuel management and engine monitoring products, data converters, and avionics interface systems (AIS). Their innovative avionics solutions are designed to meet the demanding requirements of the latest generation of aircraft whilst enabling the upgrade and sustainment of existing fleets.

Prime Air — a future delivery system from Amazon designed to safely get packages to customers in 30 minutes or less using autonomous aerial vehicles, also called drones. Prime Air has great potential to enhance the services Amazon already provides to millions of customers by providing rapid parcel delivery that will also increase the overall safety and efficiency of the transportation system.

ZeroAvia is based in Hollister, California, and Kemble, UK, and was founded in 2018. The company is developing zero-emission powertrains for aircraft and exclusively pursuing hydrogen-electric technology as it sees this as the only viable solution to tackling aviation’s climate change impact. ZeroAvia joined GAMA in 2018 as an Associate Member EPIC and has elected to elevate their membership to an Associate Member.

Heart Aerospace is an electric airplane company based in Gothenburg, Sweden, and was founded in 2018. Their mission is to create the fastest, most affordable and sustainable mode of transport for regional travel. They aim to deliver the first ES-19 electric airliner certified for commercial flight by 2026.

Jaunt Air Mobility is headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Jaunt is designing and manufacturing eVTOL (electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing) and hybrid-electric aircraft. Jaunt uses patented slow-rotor compound (SRC) technology on a combined helicopter and fixed-wing design. Jaunt offers a safe, quiet, comfortable and operationally efficient aircraft with a zero-carbon footprint for urban air transit.
