GAMA NEWS 13-26 For Immediate Release: May 20, 2013

Washington, DC, May 20, 2013 – The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA), in partnership with Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., will hold a rally celebrating general aviation’s (GA) contributions to the economy on May 30.  Governor Scott Walker, U.S. Senator Ron Johnson, U.S. Representatives Tom Petri and Reid Ribble, and Outagamie County Executive Thomas Nelson will be the featured speakers.

Greg Laabs, Vice President and General Manager of Gulfstream Aerospace’s facility in Appleton, will host the rally at the company’s East Hangar. A crowd of 400 employees, GA enthusiasts, and local community and business leaders is expected.

The GA industry contributes more than $150 billion to the U.S. economy annually and supports 1.2 million jobs nationwide.  GA is one of the few remaining domestic manufacturing industries that provides a positive trade surplus for the United States.

In Wisconsin, GA contributes more than $3.5 billion to the state’s economy annually and GAMA manufacturers alone employ more than 1,100 Wisconsinites.  GA helps thousands of businesses of all sizes become more productive and efficient, and provides local communities with much-needed tax revenue and jobs.
