Airbus Helicopters has completed the first flight of its second H140 light twin-engine prototype at its Donauwörth facility in Germany. The H140, unveiled in March 2025, is designed for emergency medical services, passenger transport, and business aviation, offering a larger cabin, improved performance, and greater efficiency compared to the H135. It features advanced avionics, a five-blade main rotor, and dual Safran engines. Airbus Helicopters plans to build four prototypes, with entry into service expected in 2028. Electric air taxi developer, Joby Aviation, has announced its acquisition of Blade Air Mobility’s passenger brokerage and marketing business in a deal valued at up to $125 million, with at least $90 million guaranteed through a mix of cash and stock. This move gives Joby access to Blade’s established customer base, booking infrastructure, and key urban terminals, including major locations in New York City. The acquisition aligns with Joby’s strategy to accelerate the launch of its electric air taxi service by leveraging Blade’s operational network and brand recognition. Blade’s more profitable medical transport division will be spun off as a separate public company called Strata Critical Medical, which will continue partnering with Joby for medical services. Blade’s passenger business will remain a standalone unit under current CEO Rob Wiesenthal within Joby’s organization.
