Wisk Aero, The Boeing Company’s autonomous air taxi subsidiary, aims to launch commercial self-flying air taxi services in Houston, Los Angeles, and Miami by 2030, according to executive J.C. Asencio. Miami was added to Wisk’s international rollout list in June, joining Brisbane, Australia, and Kaga, Japan. Unlike competitors Archer and Joby, Wisk’s eVTOL aircraft will be fully autonomous, with no onboard pilot or flight controls. The move toward autonomy is driven by pilot shortages and the fact that most commercial flights are already automated. Ground-based supervisors will oversee operations and can intervene if needed.
