Join us in congratulating Textron Aviation, whose Cessna Citation CJ3 Gen3 prototype has successfully completed its first flight! With the nearly two-hour flight, the CJ3 Gen3 joins the Citation CJ4 Gen3 and M2 Gen3 in flight testing, meaning all three next-generation Citation light jets are now advancing toward certification. During the flight, test pilots evaluated aircraft systems, avionics, and handling qualities, reaching 41,000 feet and an indicated airspeed of 278 knots. The CJ3 Gen3 introduces Garmin G3000 PRIME avionics, Garmin Emergency Autoland, and several customer-driven cockpit and cabin enhancements designed to improve pilot workload, safety, and passenger comfort. Textron said the aircraft remains on track for certification and entry into service in 2027. ... See MoreSee Less

By using electric power to supplement the engine during high-demand phases such as takeoff and climb, RTX expects the technology to improve fuel efficiency by up to 30% on a typical 250-nautical-mile regional turboprop mission. ...
