Flying Magazine reports that Wipaire and Hartzell Propeller have expanded certification of their four-bladed composite Yukon propeller for use on Cessna Caravans (C208/C208B) into new regions, specifically EASA (European) countries, Indonesia (DGCA), and Saudi Arabia (GACA). The prop had already been certified by the FAA and Brazil’s ANAC. The Yukon is lighter than comparable props, works in both wheeled and seaplane configurations, and delivers performance gains: reducing takeoff roll by ~26 % on land and ~31 % from water. Electra is ramping up its footprint as momentum builds behind its nine-passenger hybrid-electric EL9 “Ultra Short” aircraft. According to AIN, the company is expanding operations in both Virginia (U.S.) and Switzerland to support development and certification efforts. The goal is to fly a full-scale EL9 prototype by 2027 and to pursue type certification under existing FAA Part 23 regulations. Electra’s strategic investments in infrastructure abroad and domestically underline its ambition to bring hybrid “ultra short” air travel closer to reality.
